What is this event?

Karakterre 17 is a public wine festival of the most of the leading organic, biodynamic and natural winegrowers of Germany and Central-Eastern Europe today. This is an opportunity to meet, talk and taste with farmers that work their land in a sustainable way, preserving it for the future generations- and making some delicious wines along the way. Food and music at the event are the background to this message.

Why Kloster Eberbach as the location?

Karakterre has always been about putting on wine events at beautiful locations, such as Esterhazy Orangerie in Eisenstadt, Austria, or the Rockefeller Center in NY.

We see this venue as the perfect location to showcase the best of Germany’s new wave wine talent. In many ways, it drew inspiration from Germany’s agricultural history.

Kloster Eberbach is one of Europe’s most important monasteries and probably the best-preserved medieval site in Hessen. Historically and geographically we see it as a good meeting point. More on the venue’s history is available HERE.
