Participation Criteria

How wineries can join the community

At Karakterre, the criteria for participation of wineries aligns with our belief in organic, biodynamic, and natural wines, as well as farming sustainability. Our wine festival offers a unique insight into a community dedicated to values that aim to leave the land we live on at least a bit better than we found it. This is why by attending our wine festival, you're not only coming to taste wine but also to support a better tomorrow.

The criteria outlined below help our visitors understand and appreciate the commitment of winemakers.

We ask each participating winery to certify that they:

  • follow organic, biodynamic, or natural wine guidelines in vineyards and cellar, practicing low intervention.

  • do not exceed 50mg/l of total sulphur in any of their wines.

  • actively promote authentic grape varieties.

  • actively promote sustainable farming and living.

  • are family-owned & operated…

  • …. and they adhere to these criteria wherever they farm and make wine..

Due to the focus of the festival, participation priority is always given to wineries of Central-Eastern Europe.

By exhibiting at the Karakterre festival, winemakers have assured us of their commitment to these important points.

If you believe you fulfill the criteria, please fill out the participation form on our website, and we'll be in touch.

Please note that applications for Karakterre 13 are now closed, and our waiting list is already full. We regret that we can't accept more wineries at this time due to high demand. However, please feel free to send us a message through our Contact form if you're interested in participating in one of our future events. Our next event will be Karakterre New York in early November.
