As Supervinobros, Ryan Goydos — together with his brother Christopher — has established himself as one of the defining voices of the new wine generation.
Educated by the “streets” rather than formal wine certificates, Ryan approaches wine through constant tasting, visiting winemakers, building community, and communicating with refreshing transparency and accessibility — though never in a banal way.
We talk Austria, wine, new generations and much more with Ryan.

Karakterre Podcast with: André Mack
by Aleks Zecevic
André Mack’s on a mission: to make wine more accessible for everyone.
“A wine’s place is on the table right next to the salt and pepper, as a compliment–even a condiment to the food. It is not meant only to be collected, but to enhance your meal and your way of life.”
Aleks Zecevic talks to André on his love of spreading the message.

We couldn’t agree more with the words of Julie-Ann Hoch, the mind behind PureJoy Botanicals.
“We don’t always say “wine” and “beer” anymore – we talk about beverages. It gives us the space to think beyond categories. A great drink doesn’t need to belong in a box. It just needs to move you.”

It’s at the core of a vibrant and expanding Mitteleuropean scene, filled with passionate winemakers and their clients. Even if some wine events fall by the wayside, Karakterre’s singularity should ensure it survives and thrives.

Karakterre Podcast: Jamie Goode
by Aleks Zecevic
Few people have shaped the way we talk about wine like Jamie Goode. A scientist turned storyteller, Jamie blends curiosity, clarity, and a sharp eye for what matters—both in the glass and in the vineyard.
In this conversation with Karakterre’s Aleks Zecevic, he reflects on the evolution of Austrian, Central, and Eastern European wine, the fine line between dogma and progress, and why the most exciting wines today are often the most honest.
“If we wish to drink super delicious coffees in the future we have to make sure the farmers are getting more of the value than today. Increasing their revenue is in our own interest as that’s what allows the farmers to produce better quality. If we get better quality our customers are happier and it generates more money we can then bring back to the farmers. A positive spiral where we all win.”
Marko Kovac talks with Coffee Collective co-founder and a key figure in the world of coffee today, Klaus Thomsen.

The Best Wine Festivals in America, According to Drink Pros
by Janice Brockenberry
“More than just a chance to sip natural wines, this annual festival—which also occurs in the spring in Austria—gives American consumers the chance to discover new lesser-known styles and bottles, Central and Eastern European grape varietals and wines that are rarely seen in the States.”

Karakterre Podcast: Justin Chearno
by Aleks Zecevic
Justin Chearno was one of the pioneers of the natural wine movement and a founding partner at The Four Horsemen, a Parisian-inspired bistro in Brooklyn.
He curated one of the country’s most respected wine lists. In 2022, it was awarded as the Outstanding Wine Program by the James Beard Foundation.
Chearno relentlessly worked on raising a new generation of wine professionals, sharing knowledge, bottles and taking them on international trips of research and discovery. He continuously worked on his own expertise, exploring different wine regions, such as those of Austria and Central-Eastern Europe.
Karakterre’s Aleks Zecevic interviewed Justin during the event’s tasting in Eisenstadt, Austria, in May 2024.
The conversation was recorded a few months before Chearno’s untimely passing on August 22, 2024, at the age of 54.
