2:30 - 3:30 pm: Karakterre Masterclass: Yes, It’s Riesling and Yes, It’s Under Flor: Masterclass by Weingut Schätzel (foreword by Robert Dentice)

Location: Zoli restaurant terrace at Amant

What is it: With an introduction by Robert Dentice, we’ll challenge the palate and the mind with Jule and Kai of Weingut Schätzel. They will showcase the potential of patiently grown wines with no added sulfur and no filtration.

• 17-24 Steiner Riesling (Solera from the vintages 2017 until 2024, all aged together in a 5.000 L Barrel under Flor. Premiere Cru, grapes are coming from all three Grand Cru vineyards Ölberg, Hipping and Pettenthal at the Roter Hang, no added sulfur, no filtration)

• 2022 Fuchs Riesling (from the Grand Cru vineyard Hipping, from a parcel we call „Clos“, as it is surrounded by bushes and trees. Here we startet our vitiforst project in 2025 with 9 different tree varieties which we have planted directly into the rows, next to the vines with a density of 200 trees per hectare. The wine aged under Flor for three years in a single 600 L barrel, no added sulfur, no filtration.)

• 2017 Pettenthal Riesling GG (bottled in October 2025, this wine aged in its original barrel since 2017 for 8 years on the yeast and under Flor. Pettenthal is the most iconic / steep / expressive vineyard we have at the Roter Hang. The wine got an AP number and the VDP GG classification even though it’s a 100% natural wine. A revolutionary wine, very silent, deep and with 9.5% vol the lightest GG ever released on the market.)
